3D printing is one of the most powerful tools for overcoming industry challenges, enhancing efficiency, and optimizing production. Here is a compelling case study demonstrating how this technology can deliver game-changing solutions by simply thinking outside the box.
PRECISE GROUP is a leading provider of advanced printing solutions in Dubai and a pioneer in introducing 3D printing to the GCC region. During my time with them, we received an interesting project: printing an embossed logo on 10,000 glass tubes.
A glass tube awaiting embossing
The company had two UV printing technologies for embossing - one for flat surfaces and another for 360-degree cylindrical printing. Ideally, the cylindrical printer was the optimal choice due to its speed and efficiency. However, the glass tubes were too small to fit this machine, leaving only the flat surface printer, which was significantly slower and impractical for large-scale production.
Small glass tubes placed on the flat surface UV printer
Determined to find a better solution, our team designed a custom 3D-printed jig that could hold 12 glass tubes simultaneously, enabling the cylindrical printer to handle multiple units in one go. After multiple design iterations and fine-tuning, we 3D printed the jig using the UltiMaker S7, known for its high precision.

The result? A dramatic transformation in efficiency - reducing production time from 20 minutes per batch to just a few seconds.
The 3D-printed jig not only eliminated handling complexities but also streamlined the entire process, proving how 3D printing can revolutionize manufacturing workflows.

This case is a testament to how innovation and 3D printing technology can break barriers, solve real-world challenges, and redefine production efficiency.
